The Next Institute of Science and Technology (NIST) is a forward-thinking, multidisciplinary degree-awarding institution established in 2021 with the mission to provide quality higher education to the people of Southern Punjab and beyond. Initially operating in academic collaboration with reputed institutions, NIST laid its foundations by offering market-relevant programs to meet the region’s growing educational and professional needs.

Driven by a vision to cultivate innovation, critical inquiry, and academic excellence, the Institute pursued its own charter to realize its mission in true spirit. Over time, NIST expanded its academic portfolio through affiliations and approvals to offer degree programs in key disciplines such as Law, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Allied Health, among others.

Despite the challenges faced during its formative years, the Institute’s unwavering commitment to academic excellence culminated in a major achievement in 2025 when the Provincial Assembly of the Punjab officially granted NIST its charter through The Next Institute of Science and Technology Act 2025 (XXX of 2025) and its amendment under Act LII of 2025. The Higher Education Commission (HEC), Islamabad recognized the Institute, authorizing it to operate as a fully autonomous degree-awarding institution.

Guided by its Board of Governors, the supreme governing authority, and the Academic Council, the principal academic body, NIST functions with a holistic approach to higher education. With modern purpose-built campuses, advanced laboratories, digital classrooms, and a highly qualified faculty, the Institute stands among the region’s emerging centers of academic innovation and research.
