Legal Status

The Next Institute of Science and Technology (NIST) is a degree-awarding institute established under The Next Institute of Science and Technology Act 2025 (XXX of 2025) duly notified by the Provincial Assembly of the Punjab vide Notification No. PAP/Legis-3(27)/2025/368 dated 02-05-2025 and The Next Institute of Science and Technology (Amendment) Act 2025 (LII of 2025) similarly notified by the Provincial Assembly of the Punjab vide Notification No. PAP/Legis-3(41)/2025/416 dated 02-06-2025

The Governor of Punjab is the Patron of the Institute. The Board of Governors serves as the Supreme Governing Legislative Body of the Institute, while the Academic Council functions as its principal academic body.

Approved Faculties

The Next Institute of Science and Technology is authorized to provide instruction and training in the following approved faculties:

• Faculty of Law
• Faculty of Allied Health Sciences
• Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences
• Faculty of Sciences and Information Technology
• Faculty of Commerce and Management Sciences
• Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences
• Such other branches of knowledge as the Board may determine on the recommendations of the Academic Council, subject to prior approval of the relevant statutory/regulatory body.
